About Me

My name is Jim Chiu. I'm an engineer, an architect, and a founder.

I'm fundamentally curious about how new things work. My career has been a series of deliberate pivots into new, complex fields. For me, the only way to truly understand a new domain is to deconstruct it from first principles. This isn't just learning; it's a process of building understanding.

Learning, by itself, isn't the goal. The real value comes from translating and creating. I thrive in the role of a translator and architect. I enjoy facing a chaotic, fragmented system - whether it's an abstract concept, a broken ecosystem, or a complex technical challenge. I deconstruct it, then design a scalable, simpler, and more accessible solution.

Ultimately, even the best architecture must be built. This founder's mindset has been the common thread through all my experiences. This belief started in university, where the organizations I founded are still active over a decade later. Today, this mindset is embodied in my role as a co-founder where I'm responsible for architecting not only the technical platforms but also the operating systems that bring them to life.

Co-founder and CTO of Zeus Network

As co-founder and CTO of Zeus Network, I am scaling the company sustainably and architecting the infrastructure to unlock Bitcoin's trillion-dollar, non-programmable asset for high-performance financial applications on Solana.

On the management and operational side:

  1. Team Establishment: I scaled the organization from 5 to 30 people, building a high-performance, resilient team.
  2. Operations: I established a highly collaborative and efficient operational framework linking our product, engineering, and growth teams, ensuring we could ship complex products with speed and alignment.
  3. Productivity: I successfully integrated AI tools into our core workflows, enhancing productivity and operational leverage.

The market requires an institutional-grade, scalable, and secure product and platform. My role is to provide both the platform-first strategic vision and the core cross-chain technical architecture, bridging Bitcoin UTXO & Solana account models.

I led the execution of this strategy by designing a three-layer product architecture:

  1. ZeusLayer (core infrastructure): I architected this institutional-grade backend to solve the core technical problems of Bitcoin-Solana state synchronization, secure UTXO management, and the cross-chain cryptographic proof systems.
  2. BitcoinKit (developer platform): I productized our core functions into a composable SDK that empowers other developers to build their own Bitcoin applications on our stack. This strategy transitions Zeus Network from a single product into a platform.
  3. zBTC (flagship product): Our tokenized Bitcoin serves as "Customer Zero" for the entire stack. Its purpose is to publicly validate our infrastructure's robustness, security, and performance.

We successfully delivered this three-layer platform, and I was a product keynote speaker at the main stage at Breakpoint 2024, presenting our innovations to 3,000+ global ecosystem leaders and establishing our position as a leader in the Bitcoin on Solana space., the same platform that powers this website.
